It’s funny where ideas come from sometimes… I was playing with my son one day and we were stacking up some wooden blocks. I made a little structure that resembled a robot sitting down and thought that he would probably made a good bookend.
So, I cut down a length of wood I had in the garage (that used to be legs for the desk in my studio) into cubes and started to make some robots. Some of the cubes had holes in from where it had been used before, and those either became eyes , or were used to attach the heads to the bodies. I had a few metal brackets lying about that I used to add a bit more detail to the bodies.
I ended up with 6 robots. These were then painted with various designs including Harry Potter, Buzz Lightyear and some retro style designs.
