I'm often inspired by the landscapes around me, whether natural or man-made. I'm based in Yorkshire and the local area provides most of this inspiration, but other favourite places from my travels include Cornwall, Edinburgh and London. By using stencilled versions of my sketches, I hope to translate the locations into a kind of logo or motif that allows the viewer to focus on the subject and see them as a landmark. Stencilled images are often used by graffiti artists to convey a political message or an ideal, and I guess I’m trying to do the same thing; only my message is more about looking around every once in a while to spot the landmarks in your life and enjoy them.
