What do artists do in November?

Last weekend, I took part in a local craft fair (Mirfield Maker’s Market) at St Paul’s Church in Mirfield. Although, I’ve done many markets and shows with my car art, I’d only previously shown my artwork in this way once before (in 2012, at the same venue, but a different market which was cancelled by the Council), so I didn’t have any expectations. I’m pleased to say it went well and hopefully there will be another event in the New Year some time. My fairy tale prints were well received and a few were sold. The best news was that I also sold one of my Defrost paintings, which I hadn’t shown before, either online or in real life. In fact, I didn’t even have a decent photo of it, so this one will have to do.

Although, every sale I make is fantastic and puts a big smile on my face (well, as big as smile as my oft grumpy face can give!), it always feels that bit more special when the work sold is something a bit more personal; something that’s been created with no expectation of commercial success, just created because I had the desire and inclination to do so. It’s just a little boost that says “keep going” .

In other news, I have spent most of the last month or so, trying to get all the work I have in my studio, listed and available for sale on my website, Artfinder or Etsy. This has taken quite a while but, I’m getting there and it should free up some space (if only in my mind) to crack on with more new work.
